Fujairah is about two hours from Dubai, across the mountains on the Gulf of Oman. A taxi will take you. For a family with bags, or a group heading to an east-coast resort, there are cheaper and calmer ways to make the trip.

A metered taxi from Dubai to Fujairah covers around 120 to 140 km and costs several hundred dirhams per car, one way. For a group, our 14-seater van starts from AED 550 one way for the whole vehicle, with driver and fuel, which is less per person than two or three taxis once there are more than about five of you.
The rest of this page compares the options in numbers, explains what pushes a taxi fare up on this road, and covers trips from Dubai Airport.

The bus is in a different league on price and a different league on effort. It runs from a fixed station to a fixed stop, and it doesn’t carry a family’s holiday luggage gracefully. Our guide to the bus from Dubai to Fujairah covers it properly.
A long taxi trip is mostly meter, and the meter counts time in traffic as well as distance. Three things make the biggest difference on the Fujairah run.
Where you start. From Deira or Al Qusais you are on Emirates Road within minutes. From Dubai Marina or Jebel Ali you spend half an hour or more crossing Dubai first, often through Salik gates, before the long stretch towards Al Dhaid and Masafi even begins.
When you leave. Friday afternoon and the start of a long weekend are when half of Dubai seems to head for the east coast. A trip that takes under two hours on a Tuesday morning can take much longer then.
Where you are going. Fujairah city is the shortest of the east-coast destinations. The resorts at Al Aqah and the town of Dibba are further north along the coast, and Kalba is further south, so the fare climbs. Khor Fakkan is usually reached on the newer mountain road through the tunnels.
Dubai International (DXB) is on the eastern side of the city, which helps: Fujairah is about 120 km away, roughly an hour and three quarters by road in normal traffic. Taxis wait at the rank outside arrivals and the airport starting fare is higher than in the street. For one or two travellers with a suitcase each, the rank is fine.
Arriving at Dubai World Central (DWC) adds the length of Dubai to the trip, usually 45 minutes or more before you reach the same point, so a taxi from there costs noticeably more.
For families and groups landing at DXB, a pre-booked van means one vehicle, one driver with a name board and all the bags in one place. Send the flight number and we track the landing. Our airport group transfers page explains how the meet works.
Heading for Fujairah International Airport instead? It sits on the edge of Fujairah city, so the trip from Dubai is about the same as going to the city itself.
Example: a couple from Deira to a hotel in Fujairah city, mid-morning, one bag each. Take a taxi, or book a car at a fixed price if you would rather know the number first.
Example: a family of five with five suitcases from DXB to a resort at Al Aqah. That is two taxis and two meters, with the family split across both. A 7-seater van or a 14-seater van takes everyone and the bags together, at one price agreed before landing.
Example: twelve friends from Dubai Marina to a beach house near Dibba for the weekend. Three taxis, three long fares from the far side of Dubai. Our 14-seater van at the starting price of AED 550 one way works out at under AED 46 each, before the Dibba distance is added to the quote.
Example: a solo traveller with a backpack. Take the bus.
Fujairah and the other east-coast towns have their own metered taxis, and you can find one in Fujairah city without much trouble. Finding several at once outside a resort on a Sunday afternoon is another matter. If you are booking a van for the trip out, book the return at the same time; it is quoted as a second one-way trip.
Coming back on the last afternoon of a long weekend, leave earlier than you think. The traffic into Dubai builds from mid-afternoon.
This page is about getting to Fujairah. If you want to spend a day on the coast and come back the same evening, a full day with the driver waiting is a better booking than two one-way trips. See Dubai to Fujairah bus hire for a sample day, the east coast day trip from Dibba to Kalba, or the Khor Fakkan day trip.
Send the date, the pick-up address or flight number, the destination, the number of people and bags through the booking form or by email to info@emiratesbushire.com. You get a written price for the vehicle before you travel, with fuel and road tolls included. More east-coast options are on our bus rental in Fujairah page.
One vehicle for the group and the luggage.

Seven seats, sliding doors and luggage space for all.

The staff-transport workhorse: thirteen seats, daily or monthly.

High roof, reclining seats: the comfortable sixteen.
