Dubai to Khor Fakkan by private bus

Khor Fakkan is a small town with a long corniche, a harbour, a mountain dam behind it and a view of the sea that Dubai does not have. Groups hire a bus there for three reasons: a day out, a transfer to a beachfront hotel, or a school or college trip that needs real hills and real water in one place.

This page is about Khor Fakkan itself. If your group also wants Fujairah city and Al Bidyah Mosque in the same day, the Dubai to Fujairah day trip is the better plan. Khor Fakkan belongs to Sharjah, not Fujairah, which is why the road from Sharjah city is the natural one. For the coast as a whole, including Kalba and Dibba, see bus rental in Fujairah and the east coast.

Route and drive times

The driver takes the road from Sharjah over the mountains, a stretch of tunnels, bends and long descents, and stops at the Al Suhub rest area if the group wants a break and a view. Coaches use the same road. A steady, unhurried descent matters more than speed when fifty people are on board.

Start pointTypical driveLeave by, for a 10 a.m. arrival
Central Dubai, Deira, DowntownAbout 2 hours7:30 a.m.
Dubai Marina or Jebel Ali2¼ to 2½ hours7:00 a.m.
Sharjah city or Sharjah International AirportAbout 1½ hours8:15 a.m.
Ajman1¾ hours or a little more8:00 a.m.

Those assume a normal day. A winter weekend, a Friday afternoon or a holiday can add a lot, mostly on the Sharjah side of the mountains, so we confirm the pick-up time for your date.

A day built around Khor Fakkan

Four hours of driving means a full-day booking, not a half day. The sensible way to use it is to pick one base and stay there, instead of racing along the coast.

  • The corniche and beach: flat walking, shade in the early morning, and swimming in the sea from the public beach
  • The amphitheatre by the water, which is useful for a group photo or a talk
  • Al Rafisah Dam in the hills behind the town, for a short walk and a view over the valley
  • The Al Suhub rest area viewpoint on the way, if the group wants ten minutes and a photo

Check access and opening times with each site first, as they change with the season. Here is a day that works: leave Dubai at 7:30, reach the corniche by 9:45, walk and swim until noon, have lunch by the water, drive up to the dam at 2, and leave at 3:45 for a return to Dubai by about 6.

Hotel and resort transfers

Groups staying at a beachfront hotel in Khor Fakkan often only need two journeys: one up, one back. We quote them separately, so a Sunday arrival and a Wednesday return can use different vehicles if the headcount changes. If the group wants a driver for the whole stay, multi-day hire keeps one vehicle with them, which suits a retreat with something planned every day.

Weddings and events held on this coast work the same way. Guests from Dubai arrive in the afternoon, and the return after the last dance is the part to plan, because taxis on the mountain road at 1 a.m. are not a plan. Our wedding bus rental page covers shuttles and late returns.

School and college trips

Khor Fakkan puts a mountain range, a dam, a harbour and a sea shore within a few kilometres of each other, which suits a geography day. Send pupil and adult numbers separately and tell us about any pupils with extra needs, because the road is long. For the booking checklist, read school trip transport in Sharjah.

Choosing the vehicle

Two hours each way is a long time in a small seat, and a beach day brings towels, cool boxes and wet clothes.

For 15 people we would send the Sprinter, not the HiAce, even though it costs more. By the second hour, the seats are the difference.

What the trip costs

A Khor Fakkan trip is quoted for the real route and hours, in writing. We do not publish a Khor Fakkan price of our own. The nearest published figure is for Fujairah: a 14-seater van starts from AED 550 one way from Dubai, and the typical market range for that journey is AED 600 to 850. Our vehicles start from AED 450 per day for a 13-seater van and from AED 650 per day for a 50-seat coach, which are full-day prices within Dubai, not prices for the east coast.

What changes the quote: the start point, one way or a day with the driver waiting, extra hours if you stay for sunset, and the date, because winter weekends are busy. Salik tolls in Dubai are in the quote, and waiting time and extra stops are listed before you confirm. For every vehicle’s starting price and the market ranges, see the bus rental price guide.

Worked examples

Examples only. Your written quote confirms the price.

  • Example: 11 colleagues from Business Bay for a team day. One Sprinter, a full day, collected at 7:30 and back at about 6 p.m.
  • Example: 26 Year 8 pupils and four adults from Sharjah for a geography day. One 30-seater, leaving after the morning school run and back before the afternoon pick-up queue.
  • Example: 40 wedding guests from two Dubai hotels to a beachfront venue and back after midnight. One 50-seat coach, with the late return on the same quote.
  • Example: eight friends at a beach hotel for three nights. A V-Class up and a V-Class back, quoted as two one-way transfers.

Booking

Send the date, the headcount, the pick-up address, where you want to be dropped in Khor Fakkan, the time you want to leave and whether it is one way or a full day. Use the booking form, email info@emiratesbushire.com or WhatsApp +971 54 126 1681. For a winter weekend, allow two to four weeks. If heavy rain or official weather warnings make the mountain road unsafe, we delay or re-route the trip and talk you through the options.

Frequently asked.

Quick answers for this trip.

How long is the drive from Dubai to Khor Fakkan?

About two hours from central Dubai in normal traffic, a little more from Dubai Marina or Jebel Ali, and about an hour and a half from Sharjah city. Winter weekends and Fridays can add time.

Can you collect from Sharjah or Ajman instead of Dubai?

Yes. Groups from Sharjah and Ajman have a shorter drive, and we quote the route from your actual pick-up point.

How much does a bus to Khor Fakkan cost?

It is quoted for the route and the hours. As a guide, a 14-seater van from Dubai to Fujairah starts from AED 550 one way, against a typical market range of AED 600 to 850. Our day prices start from AED 450 for a 13-seater van and AED 650 for a 50-seat coach, within Dubai.

Is one day enough for Khor Fakkan?

Yes, with the driving taking about four hours in total. Pick Khor Fakkan alone for a relaxed day, or add Fujairah only if the group is happy with a long one.

Can we visit Fujairah on the same trip?

Yes, though it makes the day longer. Our Dubai to Fujairah page has a sample schedule for the wider east-coast day.

Do you do hotel transfers to Khor Fakkan?

Yes. One-way transfers up and back are quoted separately, and a vehicle can stay with the group for multi-day hire.

Which emirate is Khor Fakkan in?

Sharjah, although it sits on the east coast beside Fujairah.
