Van rental in Sharjah: what it costs

Van rental in Sharjah with a driver starts from AED 450 per day for a 13-seater Toyota HiAce and from AED 900 per day for a 7-seater Mercedes V-Class, for a full day of up to 10 hours with the driver and fuel included. Those are our published starting prices; a day that starts in Sharjah is quoted for its actual route, in writing, before you book.

VanPassengers and bagsOur starting priceTypical market range
Mercedes V-ClassUp to 7, about 6 casesFrom AED 900 per dayAED 950 to 1,600
Toyota HiAceUp to 13, about 10 casesFrom AED 450 per dayAED 500 to 650
Mercedes SprinterUp to 16, up to 12 casesFrom AED 950 per dayAED 850 to 2,500

The odd one out is the V-Class, which costs twice the HiAce and carries about half as many people. You are paying for the cabin: sliding doors on both sides, a low step, quiet on the motorway and seats you can face each other in. For a family collecting grandparents from the airport, that is often worth it. For a site crew it is not.

Which van for which job

Our honest rule of thumb, after a lot of Sharjah bookings:

  • Up to seven people, older passengers or lots of suitcases: the V-Class
  • Eight to thirteen people with day bags: the HiAce, the lowest cost per seat in our fleet
  • Fourteen to sixteen people, or twelve with airport luggage: the Sprinter, which has standing headroom and a proper luggage area
  • Seventeen or more: a 30-seater bus, not two vans, because one driver and one arrival time beats two of each

People often ask for a 14-seater van in Sharjah. Many operators mean a high-roof HiAce with fourteen passenger seats. We don’t run that layout, so for fourteen we send the Sprinter. It costs more than a HiAce and it is the more comfortable vehicle on a two-hour drive to the east coast.

What people in Sharjah hire a van for

  • Relatives landing at Sharjah International with a week of luggage, collected from arrivals and driven to Al Nahda or Muwaileh
  • A Friday family trip through the tunnels to Khor Fakkan, or inland to the dunes and fossil rocks at Mleiha
  • A wedding party moving between a hall in Al Majaz, the family home and a hotel in Ajman
  • A five-a-side or cricket team heading to a fixture in Dubai and back after dark
  • A small crew from the Sajaa or Al Saja’a industrial area to a project site for a few weeks
  • Visiting clients on a two-day tour of factories in Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain

Every one of these is the same booking underneath: a van, a driver who waits, and a written price agreed before the day.

Worked examples

Example: a family of seven, two of them over seventy, from Al Taawun to Khor Fakkan for the day with a stop at the Al Suhub viewpoint. V-Class from AED 900 for the day at the starting price, about AED 129 each, and nobody has to climb into a third row.

Example: twelve colleagues from an office in Al Khan to a team lunch and an afternoon at Al Montazah. HiAce from AED 450 for the day at the starting price, under AED 40 each. Three taxis there and back would cost more and arrive at different times.

Example: fifteen guests and fifteen suitcases from Sharjah Airport to a resort on Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah. That is a Sprinter, and on a full day with plenty of bags we might suggest a second vehicle for luggage. A one-way run like this is quoted per journey.

These are examples at our starting prices. Your quote confirms the price for your date, hours and route.

Pick-ups, parking and the clock

Most of our Sharjah pick-ups are from tower blocks, and towers are where vans lose time. Give the driver the building name, the entrance (lobby, car park ramp or service road) and a phone number for someone in the group. Ten minutes spent finding the right door at 7 a.m. becomes thirty minutes on Al Ittihad Road.

If the day ends in Dubai, think about the return. Traffic back into Sharjah in the early evening is slow almost every weekday, and a van booked for ten hours that leaves Dubai at 17:30 can run out of hours before it reaches Al Nahda. We check that when we quote, and add the time if it is needed.

While you are at a stop, the driver finds legal parking nearby and comes back when you call. Paid parking on the day is listed on the quote.

By the day, the week or every working day

A single day is the usual booking. For a visit of several days, keeping the same van and driver means the bags can stay on board and the driver learns the family’s routine. For a crew or an office team that travels every working day, the van moves onto a monthly route with a regular driver: see staff transport in Sharjah. Bigger groups and coaches are on our bus rental in Sharjah page.

Self-drive is a different product

We only rent vans with drivers. If someone in your group is happy to drive, holds the right licence for the vehicle and wants a van for a week of short errands, a self-drive rental from a car hire company will usually cost less. Once the day includes long drives, unfamiliar roads, airport kerbs or a return after a late dinner, a driver is the better buy. Our van rental across the UAE page compares the two in more detail.

What the price includes

The van, the driver, fuel and road tolls on the route (Salik in Dubai, Darb if the day goes into Abu Dhabi) are in the price. Parking, waiting beyond the booked hours and any extra time are listed before you confirm. Nothing is charged until you do. For how the rest of a quote is built, see our bus rental prices guide.

Frequently asked.

Quick answers for this trip.

How much is van rental in Sharjah with a driver?

From AED 450 per day for a 13-seater Toyota HiAce, AED 900 per day for a 7-seater Mercedes V-Class and AED 950 per day for a 16-seat Sprinter, for a full day of up to 10 hours with driver and fuel. A Sharjah day is quoted for its route.

How much does it cost to rent a 14-seater van in Sharjah?

For fourteen people we send a 16-seat Mercedes Sprinter, from AED 950 per day. For thirteen or fewer, the HiAce starts from AED 450 per day.

Can I rent a van in Sharjah without a driver?

Not from us. Every van we supply comes with a driver. Self-drive vans are available from car rental companies.

How many suitcases fit in a 13-seater van?

About ten medium cases with a full van. With more bags than that, take the Sprinter or add a luggage vehicle.

Can the van take us from Sharjah to other emirates?

Yes. Ajman and Umm Al Quwain are close, Ras Al Khaimah is about an hour and a quarter away and Fujairah about an hour and a half. Book one way or a full day with the driver waiting.

Do you charge extra for a pick-up in Sharjah?

The pick-up is part of the route we quote, so the written price already reflects where the day starts. Optional extras are listed separately.

Can we keep the same van and driver for several days?

Yes. Multi-day hire keeps one van and driver with your group, and each day is set out on the quote.

Is a van cheaper than taxis for a family of seven?

Usually, once there is more than one stop or the day runs for several hours. Two taxis on the meter for a full day add up quickly, and a van keeps everyone together.
